Pump It Up Pro - R5 Update Patch - DISCUSSION

Postby Kyle Ward » Thu Jul 03, 2008 2:59 am

Hey All,

The time has come for me to inform you about the newest update to the Pump It Up Pro Software. This new revision adds several features to Pro to make it even more enjoyable for our players. I'd also like to remind you that this isn't it! We will continue to add features and support Pump Pro through the next months based on player demographics and requests.

What does this patch do? Here is a short list of some of the features that have been added and/or fixed:

* Ability to install Add on packs - Content packs/new songs & features etc. (Pack status visible on title screen)

* All original unlock songs and courses are now available for play by default. (VVV song and Up & Down progressive course is included and now unlocked)

* Progressive scores are now shown on the attract loop. (no more 0% for progressive scores)

* Name filter active

* Song Reratings (more complete list coming later)

* Half Double support - New Step charts for every Pump Pro song! You can now select half double from the difficulty list. We've decided to resurrect this classic play style with Pump It Up Pro!

* Hard, Crazy, Half Double, FreeStyle, Nightmare slots used for high score ranking. - Normal has been removed from attract loop, scores are still kept.

*Some songs missing Freestyle/Nightmare steps have been updated and now contain steps.

* More time has been added to the select music/difficulty screen.

* Ability to "UNREADY" from a 2player game. You can now use the option button to unready your player status to change additional mods, if needed...

* Edit support has been improved. You will now see an "ICON" next to every song that your USB card contains an edit for.

* Crashing caused by failing a USB edit. Now fixed

* Machine eating credits due to specific timing of start (very rare problem) - now fixed

* Sort By Freestyle / Nightmare / Half Double Meter has been added to the sort list.

* Random speed mod OFF now works as planned

* MODS are now shown on the song result screen. Disqualified for high score list now visible when applicable.

* Button lights improved

* Cabinet Lights now unison for Single or Double play

* Easier life management for new players with "easy" difficulty

* Operator menu Song Toggle Setting - Operators can now select individual songs to remove from the active PIU Pro Songlist.

* Enter Your Name Screen - Colors are now correct for each player. Cursor now defaults to "done" if a name is already present on USB card.

* Hold behavior now correct for small holds (8th note or smaller)

* Roll behavior has been updated. Here is an explanation of how it's intended to work. (You receive credit for executing a roll / tap of the roll separately. Effect combo + life for successful tap + roll sequence; combo increases by 1 each roll. Combo broken if no rolling, life is not lost for not choosing to roll during the roll sequence.

*songlist coloring updated

* BG Brightness has been lowered due to player requests (7-08-2008)

Great stuff! Players here have been very sceptical, but I think this update fixes most of the biggest problems.

A few things that we'd like to know:

* Is there a possibility to change the background brightness or has the brightness been lowered?
* Has the problem with Kingston DataTraveler USB's been fixed? (The stick needs to always be inserted two times, since the first time there is always a card mount error)
* Has the mini mod been fixed as previously posted on these forums by me?

Something that I see omitted from the update maybe it just wasn't listed but what about Rolls? Currently when you have a Roll, you just have to hit the head of the arrow(s) and you get full credit for it. You don't actually have to continue to step the roll. Sure it adds combo but it doesn't do anything percentage-wise for or against you. Is this something that is addressed?

Kyle Ward wrote:* Easier life management for new players with "easy" difficulty

You might as well just pick Title sort then because there is only one group folder.

If that's the case, idea:

make a new song, have it have elements and chords from the menu music, but it being almost unrelated to the menu music.

I think IIDX did that several times with their "CaptivATe" songs (which were pesudoremixes of the credits music of previous styles)

To simply answer your question - Yes, I composed + assembled all menu music associated with PIU Pro. If there is enough demand for a the title song to appear in game, we will put it in the game for the players. We are just getting started... (grin) 8)

I updated the first post with information regarding which charts were added and/or moved in the patch, complete with difficulty ratings. I'm also planning on giving a difficulty list of the added Half Doubles for the patch as well.

Continue checking this thread for more updates :D

A few things that we'd like to know:

1) Is there a possibility to change the background brightness or has the brightness been lowered?

3) Has the mini mod been fixed as previously posted on these forums by me?

1) We have just received 2 complaints about this issue so far. We will inspect it and see if it can be improved. If there is enough demand for this change (more complaints then currently received) we will look at adjusting it for the next patch. Making it an operator setting is not the best solution for this problem. Doing so will cause machines with different settings for players to be confused with.

2) This sounds like a voltage problem with the USB stick. I will report and make note of it since you indicated it here. Thank you. We will look into it and attempt to do something if possible.

3) Our way of handling mini has not changed in a long while. The new handling of mini was done because of how it previously would draw redundant arrows. (From an SM engine standpoint, It changed during the production of ITG PS2, but has not changed since that time.)
